The following are the expectations for Immediate Preparation for Confirmation:
Choose a sponsor and a saint name.
Attend an informational meeting for candidates and parents provided by the parish so as to become familiar with the Confirmation preparation process.
Take part in deeper learning about our faith.
Attend a Diocesan Confirmation Afternoon of Reflection with your sponsor.
Attend an approved two or three day Confirmation Retreat (this is in addition to the rally required for entry into Sacramental Preparation).
Complete service projects and hours offered in the name of the Church as specified by your program leaders.
Attend Mass regularly on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation and Masses designated for the Parish Confirmation Program.
Attend the Easter Triduum.
Celebrate the Sacraments of Penance and Holy Communion regularly! (This means Mass every weekend and reception of Holy Communion at least once a year during the Easter Season, and confession at least once a year, but ideally, monthly or every other month.)
Attend every event scheduled specifically for you and your sponsor by the parish or the diocese.
Write a letter to the Bishop requesting the Sacrament of Confirmation. (Guidelines for writing these letters will be given to the candidates. The letters must be approved by the pastor or catechetical leader.)
Attend the Confirmation rehearsal and ceremony, adhering to a modest, reverent dress code for the ceremony .
