For Parents of Confirmation Candidates,
Welcome and bless you! What a wonderful gift you present to the Lord as you bring your child to preparation for completing the Sacraments of Initiation in Confirmation. This is a special time for your child, but also for you and the rest of the community! We are grateful for God’s blessings as we begin this next part of the journey!
The Lord calls parents as the “first teachers of the faith” for their children.
Please know how vitally important Sunday worship is for your family. Arrange things in your life so that you can attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation with your children. Also, encourage your children to receive the Sacrament of Penance regularly and to attend Mass even more than once a week.
During this time of preparation, we also highly recommend that you stay informed and help your child with service projects or other elements of understanding faith. Keep abreast of the events related to Confirmation, and be present at all informational meetings held in the parish for your child’s spiritual welfare.
After Confirmation, we invite you to help your young person make a post-Confirmation plan, and to assist them in continuing their instruction and formation in the parish. Immaculate Conception Catholic Church offers 12th graders creative ways to stay involved.
